The Perfect Miami City Guide

Summer heat, sun-kissed skin, sugary mojitos—this is Miami, baby!

Every time I hear about Miami through word of mouth or the latest headlines, the topic is about the latest spring break curfew, lit DJ sets, or Miami Vice. In June, I finally got to see Miami with my own eyes and it felt like I was in a different country! Regardless of whether you’re soaking up the sun on the beach, riding in an Uber, or dining at a restaurant, everyone around you speaks Spanish. After all, Miami is home to Cubans and Venezuelans who make the city vibrant with culture.

My sister and I had a blast exploring the different parts of Miami for four days. Hopefully this guide will give you some ideas on how you can spend your time there!

Where to Stay

Lifehouse Hotel

There are two Lifehouse Hotels in Miami—one in Little Havana and one in South Beach. Staying in South Beach is a great option for those travelers who want to experience Miami nightlife to the maximum. Since this location is so close to the beach and the best clubs in town, it’s the perfect place to stay.

However, if your itinerary consists of exploring all of Miami, including the beach, different neighborhoods, and art galleries, I would recommend staying in Lifehouse’s Little Havana location. This hotel is tucked away in a neighborhood that is an Uber ride away from different areas of Miami, making it a convenient place to wind down between tourist activities. Plus, this hotel has a vibrant rooftop bar, Terras, that offers a stunning view of the city!

enjoy coffee and breakfast on the rooftop in the morning

Where to Eat

OTL

Watch all the influencers grabbing coffee and a bite to eat at this trendy coffee shop!

Boia De

Dine at this funky modern-Italian restaurant. This space has only 24 seats, so be sure to make a reservation!

Old Havana’s Cuban Bar & Cocina

Enjoy a classic Cuban meal at this restaurant in the heart of Little Havana. I’d recommend getting a table outside, so you can sit in the midst of vintage decor. Get a mojito and a classic Cuban sandwich to feel like you are in Cuba!

Palat

Palat is an Italian restaurant in the Buena Vista neighborhood. Enjoy fresh ceviche as a starter and then some classic Tagliolini Cacio e Pepe served in a Parmigiano wheel!

Casa Florida

Eat a tasty meal while taking some cute pictures for Instagram at this pink and vintage-themed restaurant.

Azucar Ice Cream

Do yourself a favor and grab a scoop of “Abuela Maria” ice cream in a cup or cone. You will not be disappointed! It’s vanilla ice cream layered with hefty guava chunks, cream cheese, guava marmalade, and the classic Maria cookies.

Where to Explore

South Beach

Enjoy the beach all day and then get a refreshing Aperol Spritz at the Versace Mansion. There is a dress code for dining there, but grabbing a drink at the bar shouldn’t be an issue!

For clubs in South Beach, I would check out Do Not Sit on the Furniture or LIV. However, if you’re just looking to grab drinks in the evening, Sweet Liberty Drinks & Supply Company is a hot spot for world-class cocktails!

Vizcaya Museum & Gardens

Built by James Deering between 1914 and 1922, this Mediterranean-style home features art from the 20th century to Pompeii times. Explore this cultural establishment and pretend you are in Italy!

Miami Design District

Explore this creative neighborhood, while doing some luxury shopping. This neighborhood has the best brands, like Glossier, Ganni, Dior, and much more. Make sure to check out some of the Instagrammable public art!

Calle Ocho

Walk through the bustling center of Little Havana! Strut along the main strip and pop into various restaurants, shops, and treat yourself to a classic Cuban coffee—the Cortadito.

Where to Hang Out

Wynwood

I would describe Wynwood as an eclectic neighborhood for Miami locals to hang out in. It’s the perfect place to escape the craziness of South Beach. Explore various shops, restaurants, and art galleries dispersed around 50 city blocks!

at Oasis

Check out the shop UNKNWN that LeBron James raved about or grab some food and drinks at Oasis! At Oasis, you might even catch a live music show!

Or chill out at Dante’s HiFi—Miami’s first vinyl listening bar!

Center for Subtropical Affairs

This place is in the middle of nowhere, but it’s filled with an eclectic vibe. It costs $10 to get in and you’ll get to explore an outdoor garden and listen to live music from local bands!

Where to Dance

Ball & Chain

This fun music venue and restaurant is right on Calle Ocho in Little Havana. The vibes are immaculate at this place! It’s a great place to dance the night away.

Terras

Terras is a fun rooftop bar at the Lifehouse Hotel in Little Havana. If you don’t feel like partying at South Beach, head up to Terras for some funky house music while taking in that Miami sea breeze and people-watching! Locals come here with their friends to catch up over some good tunes and drinks.

I hope you all found this helpful! Have you ever been to Miami? Or is it on your list of places to visit? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments down below!
