A Marvelous Weekend in San Francisco

Feeling tired? Feeling down? I have an answer: go on a weekend getaway with your girlfriends and forget the rest. My besties and I went to San Francisco to celebrate our dear friend’s birthday and let me tell you…We had a blast!

The jokes were hitting, the wine was flowing, and the cuddles were tighter than ever. Here’s a little rundown of our weekend fun:

Friday

We took an Amtrak to the city, hopped off the train and had a little bite of Detroit-style pizza at Pie Punks. Turns out I’m in my amaro era, so of course I sipped on it neat style because I don’t mess around.

After our late lunch, we headed over to The Line hotel where we stayed for the weekend. It’s located in downtown, which was close to the activities we had planned. Some things to note though: it’s a bit unsafe at night, so be aware of your surroundings. Still loved it, though!

In the evening we enjoyed drinks at the rooftop bar, which had nice views of the city.

The main highlight of the night was our delicious dinner at Zuni Café. They’re known for their famous roast chicken which takes about an hour to make. Be sure to order it and their shoestring fries! You will NOT be disappointed. The roast chicken just melts in your mouth. Who knew it could be that good?!

You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Plus, the vibes are just everything. The restaurant even had a beautiful Christmas tree propped up on a grand piano and it was decorated with chicken ornaments. I mean, how cute?!

We ended the night with drinks at Smuggler’s Cove – a cozy tiki bar. There will most likely be a 30 minute wait, but I say it’s worth it. Shout out to Christopher the bartender, who not only found us a place to sit in the tight space, but who also made the most perfect gin cocktail. I highly recommend getting the Saturn. **CHEF’S KISS!**

Saturday

For brunch we headed to Cafe Isabella in Nob Hill. You can’t go wrong with any of the burritos on the menu!

We then made our way over to Radhaus for some to-go cocktails since the wait for a table was quite long. It was all good though because there was a West Coast Craft market at Fort Mason and we perused the aisles. I bought an adorable little phone charm strap so I am officially Gen-Z coded.

After a little power nap, we got ready for our main event of the night: the San Francisco Ballet‘s Nutcracker performance. We got all dazzled up and pre-gamed with Nutcracker tea at the San Francisco Proper Hotel. Everything was so beautiful and lovely. Of course we stopped by the rooftop bar for a little drink before the ballet show!

I’ve seen the Nutcracker ballet performance before, but I was reminded of just how beautiful the production is. Everything from the set, to the ballet costumes, to the wonderful sounds of the San Francisco Symphony was just perfect.

We then had a late night dinner at Absinthe, which was popping with a fun crowd! Afterwards, we popped into Sugar Lounge, a local watering hole for some drinks. This is a fun place to people watch and chat with the locals. Good vibes all around!

Sunday

This was our last day and we wanted a lovely meal before we all went home. We of course had to go back to the Proper Hotel for brunch. Oh, my goodness. My huevos rancheros were out of this world. They had a little British flair to them because of the saucy baked beans and I wasn’t mad about it. I highly recommend trying them! Oh, and if you’re sweet enough, the bartender might just whip up an Espresso Martini for you.

Mark my words, folks! I’m moving to SF soon! The scene, the walkability, the close quarters! I’m here for it all.
