Hello, friends!
I spent last week exploring Copenhagen with my dad. We ate a ton of rye bread with butter, walked 25 thousand steps a day, and relaxed in cute cafes. Here’s a little guide on all the things to do if you decide to visit this fun city!

Where to Stay
We stayed at this cute eco-friendly hotel in the center of Vesterbro, a vibrant district in Copenhagen that’s close to the Central Station. Pro tip: don’t skip out on their organic breakfast!
This is another option if you want to be in the heart of Nyhavn, which is an iconic site.
Where to Eat and Drink
Brekkie + Coffee

brekkie. look at the circular slab of butter!!
On our first day, we ate at this adorable candle-lit restaurant that’s run by a mother and daughter. Major hygge vibes here.
Get fresh pastries at this bakery! They’re known for their cinnamon rolls, but sadly they were sold out when we got there. Arrive early! Their almond butter croissant and pastry with some sort of airy cream and fresh berries were delicious.
Design and food? I’m there! This bakery and cafe is located in a pharmacy building dating back to the 17th century. It’s tucked away in a lovely residential neighborhood and is connected to FRAMA, a design store and studio.
They serve La Cabra coffee, which we enjoyed with a fresh cardamom bun.
Dinner + Bites

We stumbled upon this restaurant and enjoyed wonderful seafood. The hits: asparagus and green apple risotto, pan seared sea bass, grilled salmon with dijon, and picpoul wine from Les Equilibristes.
Sadly, we couldn’t make it here, but this restaurant is well-known for making their own cheeses and amazing pizza. Plus, Barack Obama ate there, so ’nuff said.

Aperol Spritz ft a gorgeous dip with roasted asparagus
Out of all the food places we went to, this place was my favorite. We sat near the window and had a wonderful view of the outdoor seating area, so we watched families, lovers, and friends mingle and enjoy their time together over cheeky cigs. It was the best. Also, this Aperol Spritz was the winner out of the ones I tried in the city.
Beer + Wine

This place serves Danish draft beer. It’s located down a very short flight of stairs and once you enter the void, you are transported into a cozy atmosphere with chill indie hits and booming voices and laughter. SAY LESS. Plus, it’s located on Viktoriagade Street, so naturally I loved it even more. Skip Mikkeller across the street and come here instead!

If you’re shopping in Nørrebro, take a pit stop at this little wine shop and bar to enjoy some orange wine. Sure, it’s a bit pretentious… But hey, what else do you expect from a bar with a Parisian vibe?

This dimly lit wine bar is a dream! Lots of great wine choices and little bites to share.
Where to Explore
Statens Museum for Kunst (SMK)

Visit the National Museum Gallery of Denmark and look at Danish and international art from the past seven centuries! While we were there, we got to see a special exhibition titled Salon des Refusés by visual artist Yvette Brackman. The exhibit featured historical female artists and Jewish cultural history, focusing on those who have been historically excluded.

This museum is heaven for lovers of design! You will find collections about design then, now and in the future. As a coffee lover, I was naturally drawn to the collection of mugs and thermoses. I mean, LOOK AT THEM. Nothing makes my heart happier than a functional and stylish thermos.
Louisiana Museum of Modern Art

This beautiful museum not only showcases contemporary art, but it’s also by the water and you can explore the grounds for hours. Be sure to check out the cafe and gift shop!

We accidentally stumbled upon the Citadel, which is near a beautiful park. From here, you can walk to the water and see the famous Little Mermaid statue.

Take a stroll through this idyllic cemetery which is the resting ground for Hans Christian Andersen.

Catch a show at the Royal Opera House! Alternatively, you can tour one of the city’s theatre venues.
Walk up the spiral path to the top of this tower and enjoy the view.

Walk around this picturesque area along the water.
Where to Hang Out
Ørstedsparken
A gorgeous green area to rest, especially if you’ve been walking all day long.
Food Markets

There were so many! These are great to go to if you can’t decide where to eat, or if you need a quick pick-me-up, like a sweet treat or smørrebrød (open-faced sandwich).

Restaurant + wine bar + sauna? I’m there. See how the Danes take relaxation to the next level at La Banchina. We didn’t swim, but we soaked in the sun and enjoyed the fresh air. It felt like summer!
Where to Shop
Shopping is a bit overwhelming in this city. There are so many shops, ranging from local stores, to designer ones, to vintage shops. Some of the popular shopping areas include Strøget street in the city center and Jægersborggade street in Nørrebro. Choose your fighter!
The following shops are my favorites:

Look at all the fun pieces at this store! Eye-candy.

A great place to get some gifts. I got my sister a funky lemon candle, as pictured above.
Buy some goodies at this huge store! You can find furniture, quirky household items, cute stationary, clothes, and more. And don’t worry, you can always get some last minute items at the airport since they have a shop there, too.
A lovely little store tucked away on a quaint street. They sell pottery from local artists, all sorts of fun accessories, and other unique items.
A great store to get some treasures. They have beautiful glassware, linens, and more. If you happen to have an acquaintance who just moved, definitely grab them a house-warming gift here.

Head to this adorable ceramics studio and shop to marvel at the lovely goodies. Again, I was in mug HEAVEN.
If you’ve traveled to Copenhagen, what would you add? I’d be thrilled to hear…
Until next time!
xoxo
Tori
